Faith & Practice Coordinating Team

  • Faith & Practice

Faith & Practice is the Coordinating Team responsible for mission, both local and international, stewardship, environmental justice, social justice, and outreach.  Faith & Practice also oversees the on-going management of Dial-a-Ride, a free transportation service to and from worship for our members and church guests.  We also support annual special projects including an ecumenical alternative Christmas market and the special offerings of the Presbyterian Church USA.

Our local mission partners include:

Habitat for Humanity of Wayne County - is a non-profit organization that seeks to unite volunteers with those in need of affordable housing. Habitat depends on donations, various fundraising efforts, a joint venture with the future owner, and volunteer labor.

We also contribute to the support of the following PCUSA missionaries:

Nancy Collins who is serving in a  new role as regional liaison for East Africa. Nancy facilitates PC(USA) relationships with partner churches and institutions in Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda and Zambia. She also provides support for PC(USA) mission personnel and is a resource for U.S. congregations who are in a relationship with one of our partners in the region. Nancy’s special focus is on the evangelism, leadership development and church-growth work of PC(USA) partners in those countries.

John and Gwenyth Haspels work on a multiphase project in Ethiopia. Phase I of the project is devoted to construction of a 70-kilometer road to Tum and a second road through the mountains to the Surma people in Kibish, and also the development of a good water system for Tum. Phase II of the project is a comprehensive program that includes evangelism, education, medical care and development work. The Haspels’ work is being carried out at the invitation of the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus.
