Monday
Group 5

We went to Moorhead rec center today to work with an FCA camp ( FCA stands for Fellowship of Christian Athletes). This camp provides at risk kids living in East Denver a safe fun environment where they can learn about sports and the way God works in all types of ways. Our group also got to see the artwork around the city from our leader TINMAN an artist himself! A great start to our week for sure .
Group 6
Dana Schmidt, Claire, Emma, Helena, Brooke
Today was an exciting first day of DOOR! We went to Metro Care Ring – an organization that distributes food to people by creating a store like atmosphere by empowering clients with choosing their food. We worked on many different jobs such as restocking shelves, loading and unloading food and groceries and unpacked over 2000 lbs of canned goods and other products. As we worked we learned the downfalls of donated food. There were lots of molded foods, squished produce, and battered cans. We learned the valuable lessons of how much work it takes to run a food pantry and to appreciate what we each have. We are glad that day 1 is over and we look forward to tomorrow.
Group 7
Jen Baer, Abi, Dylan, Hannah S, Lori Kasserman
Today my group went to the Saint Francis homeless shelter. We split into 2 groups of 3 one group did laundry, folded clothes, and towels, unwrapped soap, and sorted through donations. The other group worked to fulfill the homeless clothing needs. They offered each person 3 options to choose from what they had requested. After lunch the groups switched jobs to experience both sides.
